Advisors Finally Convinced Kublai to Allow the Chinese to Continue Growing Crops So That They Could
Gathering resources is the key to successful survey missions in Pokémon Legends: Arceus , and players can grow their own Berries, Apricorns, and more by unlocking and upgrading the farm in Jubilife Village. Farming takes a lot of the work out of collecting resources and makes it easier for players to ensure they always have the crafting supplies they need without having to venture out to search for them in the wild. With a fully-upgraded farm, players will even be able to grow Mints, which can change the Nature of a Pokémon and aren't found anywhere else in the Hisui region.
The Jubilife Village farm can be found on the southwest side of Jubilife Village, and trainers can start planting crops as soon as they choose their Starter Pokémon, complete Pokémon Legends: Arceus' tutorial, and catch at least 8 Pokémon. An NPC named Miller who works at the farm will give players several Requests throughout the game that allow them to plow new fields, unlocking more crop options with each one. There are six different types of crops in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and each crop can yield a variety of resources that players need to travel safely through Hisui as they work to fill their Pokédex and calm the Frenzied Noble Pokémon.
To grow crops, players can speak with Colza and pay a fee to have him plant whichever crop they need. Players are able to grow Apricorn crops and Medicinal crops as soon as they unlock the farm, which are cheap to plant and yield the required materials to craft some of the most frequently used items in Pokémon Legends: Arceus like Poké Balls and Potions. However, growing crops does take time, but players can plant new crops between excursions so they can replenish their resources when they return.
While Apricorn and Medicinal crops are some of the most useful crops to plant at Pokémon Legends: Arceus' farm, players can also unlock Vegetable, Mushroom, Berry, and Mint crops by completing Miller's Requests. The first Request, "Help Wanted Plowing the Fields" is Request 27 in players' quest log and becomes available once players accept the "Azeru's Predicament" Story Mission. To complete the Request, players simply need to find and catch any Ground-Type and donate it to the Jubilife Village farm. If players don't have a Ground-Type Pokémon in their party or pastures, there are plenty of Geodudes in the Deertrack Heights area of the Obsidian Fieldlands that can be easily caught. Completing this Request will unlock a second field, as well as the Vegetable crop and Mushroom crop options.
The second of Miller's Requests, "Help Wanted Watering the Fields," is Request 42 and becomes available once players calm Noble Lilligant and accept the "A New Mission" Story Mission in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Miller needs help irrigating the crops on the farm, so he asks the player to bring him a Water-Type Pokémon. Fortunately, there are several of Water-Types available in both the Obsidian Fieldlands and Crimson Mirelands areas that players have likely encountered and caught, but if they don't have a Water-Type yet, there are plenty of these Pokémon in the Cobalt Coastlands area as well. After completing this Request, players will get another new field for the farm as well as access to the Berry crop.
The last Jubilife Village farm Request is Request 60, "Help Wanted Smashing Rocks in the Fields," which players can pick up after accepting the "Scaling Perilous Heights" Story Mission. Miller will ask players to bring him a Pokémon that knows the move Rock Smash to break up some boulders that are blocking the final field. Fortunately, since Pokémon Legends: Arceus allows players to change their Pokémon's movesets from the Satchel menu at any time, players can teach Rock Smash to any of their Pokémon that can learn it. If players don't have any Pokémon that can learn the move, they can catch a wild Bidoof and teach it Rock Smash by taking it to the Move Tutor. Once the Pokémon has been donated, players will unlock the last field as well as the Mint crop so they can start growing Mints for their Pokémon.
After unlocking each type of crop in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players can pay Colza to plant whichever crop they need, though each crop they unlock will be more expensive to plant than the last. Crops take time to grow, so players will have to complete some of their survey work before they can collect the harvest from the farm. It seems that more expensive crops require players to catch more Pokémon than the common crops, so players may have to catch between 20 and 30 Pokémon before their Berries or Mints are ready. A random resource is harvested from each crop, so players may have to try planting crops multiple times to get the resource they need.
- Apricorn Crops (500 Pokédollars): Apricorn, Spoiled Apricorn
- Medicinal Crops (1,000 Pokédollars): Medicinal Leek, Pep-Up Plant, Vivichoke, King's Leaf
- Vegetable Crops (1,500 Pokédollars): Sand Radish, Hearty Grains, Candy Truffle, Plump Bean
- Mushroom Crops (2,000 Pokédollars): Springy Mushroom, Swordcap, Iron Barktongue, Doppel Bonnet, Direshroom
- Berry Crops (3,000 Pokédollars): any Berry found in Hisui
- Mint Crops (10,000 Pokédollars): Mints of any Nature
Despite being the most expensive crop in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Mints are incredibly powerful items that can change the Nature of a Pokémon to enhance their strengths and make them even stronger in battle. A Pokémon's Nature will boost certain stats while weakening others, so choosing a Nature that fits the role each Pokémon has on the team is an important part of team composition and gives players a major advantage against tough foes. For example, a Pokémon with a Lonely Nature will have an increased Attack stat but a lower Defense stat than others of its species, while a Pokémon with a Quiet Nature will have a higher Special Attack in exchange for a lower Speed stat.
The Natures of Pokémon caught in the wild of Pokémon Legends: Arceus are random, which can make it difficult for trainers to find and catch a Pokémon that has an ideal Nature for its stats and role on the team. However, Mints are an incredibly useful resource that makes it easy for players to change their Pokémon's Nature to whatever will benefit their team the most. There are 25 different Natures in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, so players may have to grow several Mint crops before harvesting the Mint they need.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is available on Nintendo Switch.
